Fixes for common issues
Tap the + button on the home screen and select "New Box". Give your box a name, choose a category (e.g. Kitchen, Storage, Office), and optionally add a location. Tap Save — your box is ready!
Yes — BoxVise is completely free to download and use. There's no subscription, no paywalled features, and no hidden charges. We believe great organization tools should be accessible to everyone.
No account required. BoxVise stores all your data locally on your device, so you can start using it immediately after download — no sign-up, no email, no password.
BoxVise is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad, iOS 15+) and Android (Android 8.0+). Both versions share the same core features.
Open any box, then tap the + Add Item button. Enter the item name, quantity, description, and optionally a photo. Items are saved instantly and appear in the box list.
Yes. Long-press an item (or tap the edit icon), then select Move to Box and choose the destination box. The item will be removed from its current box and added to the new one.
There's no hard limit — you can create as many boxes and items as your device storage allows. BoxVise is designed to handle large inventories efficiently.
Yes! When adding or editing an item, tap the photo icon to capture a new photo with your camera or choose one from your library. Photos are stored locally on your device and never uploaded anywhere.
Every box automatically gets a unique QR code when it's created. Open a box and tap the QR Code icon to view and download the QR code. You can then print it and attach it to your physical box.
Tap the Scan QR button on the home screen (or the search screen), point your camera at a BoxVise QR code, and the app will instantly open the corresponding box and show all its contents.
Yes — go to All QRs from the home screen to view all your box QR codes in one place. You can select multiple boxes and export them as a printable PDF sheet.
Ensure the QR code is printed clearly and not damaged. Try holding the camera steady about 15–20 cm away. If scanning still fails, try increasing the brightness of your screen (for digital displays) or reprinting the code. Make sure camera permissions are granted to BoxVise.
Tap the Search tab at the bottom of the screen. Type any keyword — item name, description, or box name — and BoxVise will instantly find matching items across your entire inventory.
Yes. On the Search screen, use the category filter chips to narrow results to a specific box category. You can combine category filters with keyword search for more precise results.
Go to Settings → Export Data to export your full inventory as a CSV or PDF file. Save this file to your cloud storage (iCloud, Google Drive, etc.) as a backup. We recommend doing this regularly.
Yes — all data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling BoxVise will permanently delete all your boxes and items. Always export a backup before uninstalling. We cannot recover data once the app is removed.
Export your inventory from the old phone via Settings → Export Data. If you use iOS device-to-device transfer or Android backup, BoxVise data may be included automatically. For a manual transfer, export the data file and import it on the new device via Settings → Import Data.
Go to Settings → Clear All Data. This will permanently delete all boxes and items from the app. This action cannot be undone, so make sure to export a backup first if you want to keep a record.
Try closing and reopening the app. If performance is consistently slow with a large inventory, ensure your device has sufficient free storage. Check for app updates in the App Store or Google Play — performance improvements ship regularly.
Go to your device's Settings → Apps → BoxVise → Permissions and ensure Camera is enabled. On iOS, go to Settings → BoxVise and toggle Camera on. You may need to restart the app after granting permission.
